A Short History of Nearly Everything: Bill Bryson

Quotes

“There are three stages in scientific discovery. First, people deny that it is true, then they deny that it is important; finally they credit the wrong person.”

“Physics is really nothing more than a search for ultimate simplicity, but so far all we have is a kind of elegant messiness.”

Paradigm shift

This was one of the first books I read by Bill Bryson, and it was a total joy. I admit, I consume a lot of technical, contemplative, and often existential writing. Bill Bryson's books absolutely hit the spot for something long form and undeniably entertaining, while not being so meloncholy or broody. After this book, whenever I needed a break from the dark and deep realm of existentialism, Bryson's work is always my go to.
